Talk to them about what's going on and why you did what you did. Be prepared to have repercussions; you've broken their trust in you, and it's going to take time to mend. Being honest with them is a good first step. Not just today, but from today onward. Most kids don't think so, but their parents are almost always their closest champions and good friends IF the kids will let them be.
