Why is the "War Hero" approach working for Mc Cain but not not when it was used by Kerry?

Because there is a difference between "sorta kinda" being involved in vietnam, (Kerry) and being beaten so badly and having your arms and shoulders broken so many times, because you don't want to leave your platoon in a POW camp, that you can't even raise your arms above your chest level. (McCain)
